Op-Amp Calculations
Operational amplifiers (op-amps) are the building blocks of many analog circuits. Two of the most common configurations are the inverting and non-inverting amplifiers, both of which have distinct characteristics, uses, and applications.
1. Inverting Amplifier
An inverting amplifier inverts the input signal and amplifies it. In this configuration, the input signal is applied to the inverting terminal of the op-amp (-), while the non-inverting terminal (+) is grounded. A feedback resistor connects the output back to the inverting input to provide gain control.
2. Non-Inverting Amplifier
A non-inverting amplifier amplifies the input signal without inverting its phase. In this configuration, the input signal is applied to the non-inverting terminal (+), while the feedback network is connected between the output and the inverting terminal (-). A portion of the output is fed back to the inverting input to control the gain.
The below calculators provide the quick calculations for these configurations.
