How to differentiate between Monocrystalline and Polycrystalline solar panels?

There are mainly two types of solar panels in the market. Monocrystalline and Polycrystalline. Now, what is the difference between these two? Let us examine today.

The Difference

As the name already implies that the monocrystalline solar panels are made of single silicon cells and the polycrystalline solar panels are made of multiple solar cells.

The Look

You can easily make the decision for the type of solar cell by just watching the color and the shape. Monocrystalline solar panels are black in color with rounded corners but the polycrystalline solar cells are dark blue in color with right-angle corners.

The efficiency

Researches prove that the monocrystalline solar panels are more efficient than the polycrystalline solar cells. the efficiency of monocrystalline solar panels is around 18%-20% and that of polycrystalline solar cells is 13%-15% only.

The Cost
Since the monocrystalline solar panels are more efficient so they are costlier than the polycrystalline solar panels.
