LM358 based battery charge indicator
As you saw in our previous circuit that was made on TL431 and was used to tell the level of a charged battery. Today's circuit also does something similar, but it has two LED lights. We can put this circuit at the output of any battery charger and it will show the status of the battery.
Its function is such that when this circuit is powered and we have not added the battery yet, then it will glow the red LED. As soon as we add the battery to it and while it is being charged it will then glow the green LED. And when the battery is fully charged to 14.2 it will again glow the red LED. This circuit makes any battery charger smart. As you are seeing R3 and R4 both are acting as a voltage divider to set the charged voltage point.0 The zener diode is used as the reference. Just keeping the reference of the zener diode in mind, this comparator IC will display the condition of the battery. And by just watching the type of LED glowing we will observe the battery condition.
